Summary

 

Oversees the recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, and retention of all positions for the Company with a focus on operator roles. Develops and executes the candidate sourcing process. Works along with Manager, Total Rewards to design, plan, and implement recruiting and retention programs. Oversees vendor relationships for all recruiting and hiring needs (e.g. Hightower, Tenstreet, Fleetworthy, etc.). Leads onboarding process and requirements. Manages all policies, procedures, and record keeping associated with these activities. Conducts research as to the most effective approaches to these processes and programs within the Sentinel environment; recommends enhancements to existing processes and programs to meet the changing needs of the organization. Ensures that all recruiting and hiring processes are reflective of all local, state, and federal regulatory standards. Oversees all of Sentinel’s social media, website content and external presence.

 

 

  

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Oversees the development and execution of sourcing, recruitment, and hiring strategies for Sentinel, including managing and coordinating with Sentinel’s external vendors contracted for recruitment related services.
  • Manages Sentinel’s HR Specialists (Driver Recruiters) in the execution of all sourcing, recruitment, and hiring activities, for drivers and mechanics and coordinates with Terminal Managers to ensure the timely execution of all activities relating to hiring, on-boarding, and retention.
  • Conducts the recruiting and hiring of all staff vacancies from requisition to onboarding, including creation and distribution of organizational announcements.
  • Works with Senior Operations Managers, Terminal Managers, and other managers/supervisors to support an efficient and effective recruitment function, minimize voluntary terminations in all field-based locations.
  • Supports the design and implementation of all on-boarding and training curriculum for all field-based employees, including the establishment of program effectiveness metrics to ensure that Sentinel’s training and development initiatives have an impact on individual and organizational performance.
  • Contracts with training and development vendors when necessary, and ensures that all external training content and activities comply with Sentinel policies and procedures.
  • Communicates the overall direction of Sentinel’s recruitment and training and development programs to Sentinel’s Leadership Team, and provides intermittent written and verbal status reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and other stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages the recruitment budget.
  • Ensures that productivity, quality, and customer-service metrics are developed and monitored. Reports out as necessary. Develops improvement programs for metrics that are not being met.
  • Performs other duties as may be required. Directs transportation operators and in some cases, maintenance personnel, which includes recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing supervisory activities of terminal employees.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred or previous experience leading driver recruiting in a similar organization.
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification or SHRM-SCP, a plus.
  • Five or more years experience as a recruiter, preferably within the transportation or related industry.
  • 2 or more years leading the recruiting function, preferably within the transportation or related industry
  • Significant experience in sourcing candidates including experience dealing with all social media platforms.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in a range of settings, including presenting complex issues to groups and building support for the execution of new initiatives, goals, and strategies
  • Proficiency in data management such as TenStreet and all Microsoft Office applications High School Diploma or equivalent required
